FAQs

What is Glass Polishing Compound?

Glass Polishing Compound is a high-performance cerium oxide-based formula that chemically reacts with glass at a microscopic level, smoothing imperfections and restoring clarity. This process effectively removes fine scratches, sanding marks, haziness, water spots, and limescale deposits, making it ideal for glass restoration, automotive glass, and household glass surfaces.

What’s the Difference Between This and the GP-PRO Compound?
  • Glass Polishing Compound is a fine-grade cerium oxide formula designed for standard glass restoration. It delivers excellent clarity and smoothness for general polishing applications.
  • GP-PRO Glass Polishing Compound is an advanced, extra-concentrated formula with a higher cutting action, designed for professional and high-demand applications. It is more effective for removing deeper surface imperfections, oxidation, and stubborn deposits.
Can Glass Polishing Compound Damage My Glass?

No, when used correctly, Glass Polishing Compound is safe for all glass types. It polishes surfaces without scratching or etching. However, using excessive pressure or incorrect tools may lead to unwanted results. Always follow the recommended polishing technique.

What Types of Glass Can I Use This On?

Glass Polishing Compound is suitable for a wide range of glass surfaces, including:

  • Car windshields & windows
  • Shower doors & glass tabletops
  • Mirrors & household glass
  • Aquariums & watch crystals
  • Tempered & laminated glass
Do I Need Special Equipment to Use This?

For best results, use a rotary tool or drill with a felt polishing pad. Hand application can clean glass but will not effectively remove scratches or deep imperfections.

How Do I Use Glass Polishing Compound?
  1. Apply a small amount of compound onto a felt polishing pad.
  2. Polish at 1500–2500 RPM, maintaining a surface temperature of 30–50°C (86–122°F).
  3. Work in sections, keeping the pad moving over the surface. Repeat the process as needed until the surface is fully restored.
  4. Clean the glass thoroughly after polishing to remove any residue.
Does This Work on Deep Scratches?

Glass Polishing Compound is designed for fine scratches and surface imperfections. If a scratch catches your fingernail, it may require abrasive sanding before polishing for the best results.

Is This Safe to Use Indoors?

Yes! The formula is non-toxic and zinc-free, making it safe for use in workshops, garages, and home environments. However, we recommend using gloves and a dust mask when working with any polishing compounds.

Can I Use This on Gemstones or Crystals?

Yes! This compound is perfect for cleaning and restoring clarity to gemstones and crystals by hand. When used with a rotary device, it can restore or achieve a polished finish, making it ideal for quartz, tourmaline, and various crystals and semi-precious stones.

How Much Do I Need?

The required amount depends on your project size:

  • 50ml (1.7oz) → Polishes up to 4m², enough for at least 2 windshields or large glass panels
  • 100ml (3.4oz) → Ideal for multiple glass surfaces, aquariums, or repeated use
  • 250ml (8.5oz) → Suitable for larger restoration projects or professionals
  • 500ml (16.9oz) → Best for bulk use, workshops, or industrial applications
